A self-employed businessman appeared in court yesterday accused of conspiring to import 200 rounds of live ammunition and $10 million worth of drugs to Bermuda.Victor Roberts, 46, was not required to enter pleas at Magistrates’ Court, as the charges are indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.Dressed in a blue shirt and beige trousers, he stood silently as Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told him he was accused of six offences, all of them alleged to have taken place between a date unknown and July 17.He is charged with conspiring with others in Bermuda and elsewhere to import diamorphine (heroin), cocaine, cannabis and cannabis resin.Mr Roberts, of Keith Hall Estate Road, Warwick, is also charged with conspiring with others in Bermuda and elsewhere to import 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 100 rounds of 40mm ammunition, without having a licence to do so.He was refused bail by Mr Warner and remanded in custody to appear at Magistrates’ Court again on August 8.Police seized more than $10 million worth of drugs and four boxes containing 200 rounds of live ammunition during a raid at a home on South Road, Warwick last Wednesday.
