CedarBridge goes pink
CedarBridge Academy had an entire day devoted to raising breast cancer awareness on Friday, October 4, 2014. There was a grub day where participants wore an article of pink clothing.
They were to pay either $3 in advance or $5 at the door.
We learned about the illness, and those who have suffered from it.
Students sported things from pink socks to pink scarves, and pink shoes to pink pants. However, it was not a day of celebration for everyone. For several people, it is a day of remembrance for loved ones who have passed. Both males and females were taught the importance of going to the doctor for checkups. Rhonda Edwards-Adams, foreign language teacher commented, saying that “the students really supported it well,” and she was “pleasantly surprised”. She was glad to see the amount of students who donated, even if they weren’t wearing grub day.
CedarBridge Academy’s efforts were very successful. The grub day ended up raising around $1300! Husna Farooqui, head girl of CBA, said that the “event was very successful and I was very pleased with the turnout”. Hopefully, next year it will be an even larger event!
