Seventh heaven: Why chef Samuelsson loves Bermuda
Tavern By The Sea, Warwick Long Bay and Art Mel’s Spicy Dicy have all made it onto celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson’s list of top places to visit in Bermuda.
Ms Samuelsson, whose summer pop-up restaurant Samuelsson at HP has created a wave of excitement for local foodies, praised the Island for its friendly people and diverse culture.
Speaking to Forbes.com, he recommended seven of his favourite places to eat, drink, shop and hang out in Bermuda.
For the best fish sandwich (and no surprise here) he recommends Art Mel’s Spicy Dicy. He topped his sandwich with cheese and coleslaw, and chased it down with a ginger beer, describing the treat as “perfection”. He also likes popular city eatery The Spot for its authentic Bermudian diners and an Indian codfish and potatoes for lunch.
His favourite place to down an ice cold beer is at Tavern By The Sea in St George’s. “It’s great to sit and watch the boats go by,” he told Forbes.
When it comes to his favourite place to shop, Mr Samuelsson picked Urban Cottage, for its unique vintage and reclaimed pieces.
But he couldn’t pick just one favourite beach on the Island. When he’s looking for some seclusion he likes Warwick Long Bay, but if he’s looking for pink sand and an awesome view Horseshoe Bay Beach is his pick.
