Bermuda Tools romped to victory in the Eastern Counties Relay Classic yesterday, finishing almost six minutes ahead of their nearest rivals.

The team of Adam Hopkin, Tim Goodyear, Peter Gracey and John Thompson led from start to finish, clocking a time of 1hr 4min 56sec.

The Island Warriors team of Dean Smith, Mark Outerbridge, Jennifer Allen and Cynthia Millett were second in 1:10:51 and took the prize for first place in the mixed team category. Partner Re finished third overall in 1:13:59

Despite being eight months’ pregnant, Rose-Anna Hoey still had enough left in the tank to help her 3 Girls & A Prego team to first place in the all-female category and fourth overall in 1:15:08.

Bragging rights among the cricket clubs went to the Flatts team of Cofield Robinson, LaVintz Tota, Kevin Hurdle and Nelson Bascome in 1:22:33. Cleveland County, the defending champions, were disqualified for an illegal first handover after the second runner failed to show. Bailey’s Bay I, who included Stephen Outerbridge, the Bermuda cricket captain in their team, were second in 1:24:13 and Bailey’s Bay II third in 1:46:49.
