Sex assault charge dropped against St George’s man
A St George’s man accused of sexual assault, assault and burglary has been released from custody, after the charges against were ordered to lie on file.Neither the accused nor his alleged victim can be named for legal reasons.The man had earlier denied charges of entering a residence as a trespasser with the intention of stealing; unlawful assault; sexual assault, and unlawful assault with bodily harm, all from November 11 in St George’s.Crown counsel Kirsty-Ann Kiellor declared nolle prosequi in Magistrates’ Court, meaning the Crown has declined to pursue the case for now.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner advised the accused that the dismissal did not qualify as an absolute discharge, and that the charges may be brought against him again.
