Christian bands stage free concert
National Stadium on Saturday night.
Award-nominated US female Christian rock band Rachel Rachel and leading Christian rap group "True 4'' will perform original hits that have soared to the top of music charts.
And concert promoter Mr. Reece Furbert said they hope to spread a "wholesome'' message at the same time.
Both Los-Angeles-based groups, through their music, stress the importance of having God in their lives.
But they do so in extremely different ways.
Rachel Rachel -- which consist of drummer Jennifer "Sparky'' Sparks, bass player Robin Spurs, lead guitarist Heli Sterner, Brynn Beltran on the keyboards, and lead vocalist Cheryl Jewel, have been classified as "pop with an edge'' or "hard pop''.
Their sound has been compared to the style of secular bands like Heart and Wilson Phillips.
And the group, which has performed with acts such as Eddie Van Halen and Roger McGuinn, have just completed a US tour and released their second album, "You Oughta Know By Now''.
True 4 -- a rap ban with a great blend of hip-hop and rhythm and blues, have also released a new album called "We R Here''.
Matt Parramore and Chuckie Jenkins have filled concert halls across the US with hits from the album.
Produced by Tim Miner, the tunes are sure to keep concert goers on their feet.
The concert, which begins at 7.30 p.m., is completely sponsored by California-based Labour of Love Ministries which pays for both groups to put on free concerts throughout the US.
Local promoter Mr. Reece Furbert said based on the demand for both group's tapes and cassettes, he expects the concert to be well attended and urged everyone to get to the stadium on time.
"It is a great opportunity for Bermuda to be exposed to some real live recording artists with a real wholesome message,'' he said.
"It's a real family time and no one will be bored.'' While the concert is free, donations will be accepted to defray some local costs.
