Breaking News: Caines resigns as Senator
Wayne Caines today resigned his Government posts to pursue a career in the private sector.
Mr. Caines, a Senator and Junior Minister of Tourism and Transport and the Environment and Sports, recently stepped down as the Premier’s Chief of Staff but today resigned from Government.
Premier Ewart Brown said: “Senator Caines has been a clear asset to the Government’s Senate team and has been a powerful advocate for road safety, leading in the area of addressing some of the recent issues on our roads.
“I can only say that I wish Wayne well as he brings to bear his considerable talents in the private sector.”
Mr. Caines has been appointed the CEO of Digicel Bermuda. The mobile telecommunications company has 23 markets throughout the Caribbean.
Dr. Brown said he hoped to fill the vacancy in the Senate by next week.
