Student had gun thrust into neck
A teenager has told how he feared for his life when a robber thrust a gun into his neck.
Kevon Albuoy, from Somerset, who is studying in Georgia, USA, was with his two cousins when they were set upon by an armed gang. Mr. Albuoy is the second Bermudian student in two days to reveal he was threatened at gunpoint while studying overseas.
Yesterday, reported how Thomas Edwards, 21, had a gun pointed at his chest when he was robbed in Reading, England, on Sunday evening.
Mr. Albuoy said he was returning from a shop with his two cousins when six people approached them from behind.
He said one pointed a 9mm gun at his neck, while another hit his 16-year-old cousin Tyree Randall in the face. The third cousin ran off when the attack began. The offenders then rifled through Mr. Albuoy's pockets before stealing his jacket and making off in a getaway car.
Mr. Albuoy said: "They came up from behind the building and I saw one walking up to my cousin.
"Then one of them held the gun up to my neck. One of my cousins ran off, but with the gun there I couldn't run or anything.
"It was even more terrifying because they weren't wearing masks. I've heard people say that if they're not wearing masks they're more likely to shoot you because you've seen what they look like. I just didn't know whether they were going to shoot me. That night I couldn't sleep but I'm ok now."
Mr. Albuoy said nobody was seriously injured in the incident, which happened on Saturday, October 14, at about 6pm.
In Sunday's incident, Mr. Edwards dropped his grocery bags in shock as his attacker pointed the gun in his chest and seized his wallet.
Mr. Edwards grew up in Flatts but has been studying in England for the past four years.
He had been making his way home from a visit to a shop with a friend when they were attacked by three men. He said it was too dark to see what kind of gun the offender was carrying.
The robbers stole credit cards, student ID cards, driving licences and a small amount of cash before running off. Mr. Edwards and his friend were both uninjured in the attack.
