Franklin weaker

Tropical storm Franklin remains a threat to Bermuda ? but is now unlikely to grow into a hurricane.

The Bermuda Weather Service said yesterday a gradually weakening Franklin is moving in a north westerly direction from the Island. However, the public are advised to check weather updates over the next few days.

A forecaster said last night Franklin will have maximum winds of 40 knots during its closest approach within the next 72 hours. Franklin is due to make its closest approach to the Island on Tuesday night within 100 nautical miles of the Island.

The Bermuda Police Service reminded all mariners yesterday to check their moorings and ensure vessels are secured during the storm?s approach.
