"De New Ferry'' which does not appear to have had a proper non-burial.

Almost three weeks after it was featured on the front page of The Royal Gazette , the wood frame and metal barrel float has been dumped in Tom Wood's Bay in Spanish Point.

Hidden in a secluded area of one of the few places where mangrove trees and other delicate water plants can still be found, the float is clearly identifiable in these photographs.

Also clearly identifiable are those Non-Mariners who it would appear are also non-good citizens in leaving the float to rot.

The Royal Gazette understands Police have been contacted about the float but an investigation into who put it there has proved unsuccessful.

The float was still in the same place yesterday afternoon, destined to become the Island's newest shipwreck cum environmental nightmare.

One Non-Mariner's race organiser distanced the charitable event from such dumping, citing efforts to clean Mangrove Bay in Sandys where the event was held as an example of being a good Non-Mariner.

Photos by David Skinner and Nigel Richardson Let's fix it: Almost three weeks after they did not complete the Non-Mariners Race on August 6 and made the front page of The Royal Gazette (top), someone has left the remains of De New Ferry in the mangroves of Tom Wood's Bay in Spanish Point (below).
