Cougars, Wolves meet in second round
the next round of the FA Cup after yesterday's draw matched up the two Second Division teams.
The teams are the top two teams in the Second Division, Wolves on six points from their two matches and Cougars on four. They are due to meet twice in the space of seven days as the previous week -- November 5 -- they will clash in a league match.
There are six matches scheduled for the preliminary round on November 12, with a doubleheader scheduled for White Hill field. Forties will meet Robin Hood at 12.30 in an all-Commercial Division tie while the second match at 2.30 will pit Mariners against tonight's winners of the Island Rangers-Hamilton Parish match which will take place at PHC Stadium at 8.00.
Two Second Division teams are also awaiting to see who their opponents in the next round will be. But that should be decided after tonight when Belco take on Spinning Wheel (7.00) and BAA meet Lobster Pot (9.00), both matches at BAA Field.
St. David's are away to Belco or Spinning Wheel at a venue to be determined while Social Club will meet the winners of the BAA and Lobster Pot match at PHC Stadium.
Three of Sunday's 10 matches were postponed because of rain and have been rescheduled. Hamilton Parish will have to be at their best to prevent Commercial Division team, Island Rangers, from springing a surprise at PHC Stadium while the match between Belco and Spinning Wheel could go either way.
BAA should have the edge over Lobster Pot.
In the other match, the firemen will clash with the policemen when Fire Service play Prospect at Police Field.
The six winners will go into the draw with the 10 First Division teams for the first round which is scheduled for January 14.
Draw: Forties v Robin Hood (White Hill, 12.30); Mariners v Island Rangers or Hamilton Parish (White Hill, 2.30); Fire Service v Prospect (Police Field, 2.30); Devonshire Cougars v Wolves (Devonshire Rec., 2.30); Social Club v BAA or Lobster Pot (PHC Stadium, 2.30); Belco v Spinning Wheel or St. David's (venue TBA).
