It's Bermuda Night at Boston's Fenway Park
A taste of the Island will come to Beantown today, when Bermuda Night is hosted at Boston's Fenway Park.
The idea is that baseball fans watching the Boston Red Sox play the Arizona Diamondbacks will be given a taste of Bermuda as a destination.
A Gombey troupe will welcome fans to the stadium and Bermuda gift bags will be available in Fenway Park's luxury suites.
Two Bermudians will also perform at the game singer Twanee Butterfield will perform the US national anthem, and New England Revolution soccer player Khano Smith will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
Premier and Minister of Tourism Ewart Brown will attend the event and conduct an interview with the New England Sports Network. He's due to host representatives from JetBlue Airways and other influential industry figures in Bermuda's suite at the stadium, according to a Government press release.
The special promotion is part of an ongoing partnership between the Bermuda Department of Tourism, the Red Sox and the New England Sports Network (NESN).
Director of Tourism William Griffith said: "We are very much looking forward to our continued partnership with the Red Sox and NESN and showing our appreciation to this ever-important tourism market.
"The east coast, especially New England, is a crucial market for Bermuda, with a number of non-stop flight options on JetBlue Airways and Delta Air Lines from Boston Logan International Airport."
Mr. Griffith is due to speak on tourism initiatives at a media luncheon in Boston today. The Gombey troupe is also scheduled to perform for morning commuters at Government Center and Copley Square in the city, to further assist with the tourism promotion.
Another Bermuda night is scheduled for August 23 when the Red Sox play the Seattle Mariners.
