services for a day this weekend to raise funds for St. John's Ambulance Brigade.

The service is part of Sedgwick Group and Sedgwick Noble Lowndes' second annual National Volunteer Day on October 19.

On the same day volunteers from Sedgwick offices across North America will participate in local community service projects of their own choice.

Locally, Sedgwick staff will hold a car wash at Collector's Hill Esso Service Station and a bake sale on the verandah of the Bermuda Library on Queen Street in Hamilton.

The funds will go toward the purchase of a defibrillator for St. John's.

Sedgwick spokesperson Denise Somerville said the company selected St. John's Ambulance Brigade because the organisation "did so much for so many people''.

St. John's Ambulance Brigade chairman Colin Curtis said: "We are pleased that the business sector is realising the need to support volunteer causes. The more businesses become involved in volunteer efforts, the more our local community will benefit.''
