Dockyard is cruise ship ready

Dockyard has been repaired well enough after Hurricane Fabian to take cruise ships this season, but work is still on-going.

The Ministry of Transport is anxious remaining repairs will not affect the tourists at Dockyard and is in constant touch with the West End Development Company (Wedco).

It is understood there are still some repairs that need to be done to the dock and part of the passenger terminal, but they can take ships.

Occasional visitor the called in March and the docked last Thursday.

A Ministry of Transport spokesman said yesterday: ?The Ministry has been in close consultation with Wedco to ensure that work that needs to be done will be done to ensure the visitor experience is appropriate and that the safety levels for our visitors and locals are not compromised by any damage that has yet to be repaired.?

Neither Wedco nor the Department of Marine and Port Services returned calls seeking comment yesterday.
