BAS drops 3.1percent

The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange continued to show little reaction to the turmoil on major exchanges around the world as it moved less than two points to end another quiet day just 1.82 points lower (0.04 percent) at 4,994.10.

A total of 1,900 shares were traded, the majority of those being in Bermuda Aviation Services which saw a 3.1 percent drop in value (20 cents) to $6.30 after 1,800 were exchanged. The change in value came shortly after BAS announced it is to be a majority partner in a joint venture with Otis Elevators Bermuda as from March 1.

The only other activity on the Exchange was in the banking sector with 100 shares in Bermuda Commercial Bank being traded but resulting in no effect on the closing share price of $9.00.

The total value of shares traded was $12,240.

Yesterday’s Royal Gazette BSX report wrongly reported the Exchange had dropped 9.19 points on Tuesday, the market actually rose 9.19 points.
