FIRST DIVISION ROUND-UP
Hamilton Parish 1, St. George's 1
Veteran Clay Smith came off the bench ten minutes from the end to save visiting St. George's Colts from defeat in this First Division clash at Lord's.
Brought on as a sub by coach Carlos Greaves to add some spark with his free-kicking ability, Smith answered his coach's call by blasting home the equaliser two minutes from the end.
A few minutes earlier Smith wasn't as lucky as a similar blast from a free kick was sensationally saved by the efficient Nigel Burgess in the Parish goal.
For most of the first half Parish called the tune with Romon Smith putting them ahead with a goal after 12 minutes, but this was to be their only success as St. George's defence held firm.
Parish held the better of the exchanges in the second half but sadly their finishing remained suspect.
Little did they know that St. George's had a trump card in Smith - who has seldom played this season - who came off the bench to help the eastenders snatch a point and put a dent in Parish's bid to contend for promotion.
X'Roads 3, Social Club 0
Home side X'Roads continued to keep among those challenging for promotion places with this emphatic win at Garrison field.
But it was a struggle against opponents who fought hard and could have walked away with a share of the points with a bit of luck.
Nashon Smith gave Social a 1-0 lead at the half with his goal after 22 minutes, but Social were unable to press any real advantage against a side that was determined to fight until the bitter end.
Smith eventually got a second from his physically better team after 83 minutes as Social began to fade. And the third goal came right at the end through Dennis Musson.
