Southampton Rangers coach Keith Jennings admits his side’s preparations for their FA Cup clash against North Village at Southampton Oval tomorrow haven’t been the best, having not played in more than a week.Rangers were set to take on Robin Hood Saturday night but the match was called off due to bad weather, with the match to be played on Thursday night.However, the rescheduled fixture was also called off because of stormy conditions, leaving the side without a competitive game in two weeks.Now heading into their round of 16 game at Southampton Oval, Jennings is hopeful his troops can shake off the rust from the lay off and rise up to the challenge.“I don’t have much to say in regards to our preparation, we know what needs to be done and we will go out to get the result needed,” said Jennings.“The game doesn’t come at a good time for us because we were supposed to play last weekend and that match got postponed, and again Thursday night but the weather won that, so we haven’t played in a few weeks.”Rangers seem to step up and play their best football when they play the Rams, a factor that could prove crucial in the mindset of both sets of players.Playing against his former team, Jennings believes the match may come down to who takes their goalscoring chances.“We have had a few good results against Village in recent times, but we have been on and off inour form so we need to focus on what is at hand,” said the former Bermuda international.“We have a tendency to bounce back after losses or bad performance, and this match presents a good chance to gain some confidence in ourselves.“I have two players that are injured, but it’s about putting out a team that will compete and that’s what I will certainly do.“It may come down to who puts their chances away early in the game and not let the game come to them, this seems to be the case usually between the two teams.”Rangers against Village is the second game of a double-header at the Oval, with PHC opening proceedings with their match against St George’s at 12.30pm.Another all Premier Division clash will see the two new boys, Somerset Trojans and Robin Hood, play at Somerset Cricket Club, while Devonshire Cougars make the short trek to BAA Field to lock horns with Boulevard.League leaders Dandy Town welcome First Division side Prospect to St John’s Field and Devonshire Colts entertain St David’s at Police Field.In an all First Division showdown, Flanagan’s face off against Young Men’s Social Club at BAA Field tonight, with kick off set for 9pm.All games start at 3pm unless otherwise stated.
