Cougars simply too good for Hood

Devonshire Cougars v Robin HoodRobin Hood have had a several gruelling away fixtures of late and tonight’s clash against Devonshire Cougars at Devonshire Rec. will be no exception.Hood have already played Dandy Town and Village who have a possession style of play, but Cougars are like the Phoenix Suns of the Premier Division and like to play with speed and directness. There’s no doubt Hood’s defence will have to be at their watertight best if they’re take anything from this match. It won’t be easy for Cougars, although they should have enough weapons in their armoury to claim three points against Andrew Bascome’s side.Prediction: Cougars 3-0Boulevard v St George’sTomorrow’s game at BAA Field is one that both sides need to win to get back on track and it should be a close encounter.Who scores first could go a long way in determining the winner but with the attacking potency of Colts and the never-say-die attitude of Blazers it’s anyone’s guess what will happen.Boulevard skipper Ajani Gibbons has led from the front for his club in recent times but they will need someone else to step up if there are to have a shot of starting a winning streak.Prediction: St George’s 2-1Southampton Rangers v Somerset TrojansBack to back wins have lifted Somerset off the bottom of the table but they will need to be equally focused when they face Southampton at Southampton Oval. The game may seem straightforward on paper for the hosts but they must be wary of the ever-dangerous Dion Stovell who is the main man for the West Enders.Rangers have quality of their own, especially in midfield and will be sure to clog any holes that the opposition will try to fill and get the ball to Stovell.A key battle will be between Rangers defender Ijahmon Mallory and Stovell. If Mallory can keep the striker quiet, Rangers could have an edge.Prediction: 1-1St David’s v Dandy TownThis is a mismatch of epic proportions that should see Town pick up all three points without breaking sweat. The Islanders are winless this season and are unlikely to break that streak.Although one might say this could be a banana skin, it’s safe to say there’s only one winner with Hey Wolfe and Raymond Beach licking their chops at the prospect of adding to their scoring charts.Beaten last weekend by PHC, Hornets won’t want to drop any more points.Prediction: Town 3-0North Village v PHCThe game of the week at Bernard Park will see the two top teams come face to face. For Village it will be a case of trying to put behind them their Dudley Eve final defeat against Hornets on Wednesday night.Village have played two games a week for the past five weeks and with that in mind PHC might feel they have a chance of taking advantage of any weary limbs in the Rams ranks.PHC will be looking to continue where they left off last week with their win over Town, so something has to give.Don’t be surprised if it ends as a draw with tired legs surely coming into play at some stage for the hosts.Prediction: Village 3-2
