Happy Thanksgiving Bermuda! Although we definitely have our problems, we have so much more for which we ought to be thankful. We are still a very blessed people and Country. More on this after the top 20.

Jumping into the top spot this week is I Like It by Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull. Up to #2 is Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. Advancing to #3 is Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars. On the way up to #4 is DJ Got Us Falling In Love by Usher featuring Pitbull. Falling to #5 its Hello, Good Morning by Diddy.

Improving to #6 is Only Girl In The World by Rihanna. This is continued excellence from the hottest entertainer on the planet. That's right, Rihanna is that hot these days. She is everywhere. Her face is on billboards from the bottom of Chile to the far east end of Japan! Her music is being played everywhere. Her concerts are sellouts. You can pay enough for a ticket to a Rihanna concert. Now, if the new Tourism Minister wants to top or match the coup of getting Beyonce and Alicia Keys to Bermuda over the same Music Festival weekend, signing Rihanna would be the way! But, seriously, it's not really a good idea because the return on investment of that event do not justify the costs. Sorry, but the numbers don't lie.

Slipping to #7 is Ride by Ciara featuring Ludacris. Up to #8 is Just A Dream by Nelly. Tumbling to # 9 is Deuces, by Chris Brown featuring Tyga and Kevin McCall. Slipping to #10 is Dynamite by Taio Cruz. Taio Cruz has popped onto the scene in a fast and big way, dropping all kinds of pop hits.

On the way up to #11 is Bottoms Up by Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj has also burst onto the scene and established herself as a new force in hip hop. Tumbling to #12 it's I Love The Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna.

Soaring to #13 is To Paris with Love by Donna Summer, a diva back in the 80s who is still on her game. It's really good to have her back. It's like a trip down memory lane for us old fogeys.

Up to #14 is Can't Be Friends by Trey Songz, a former essential new track. Improving to #15 is Holding You Down by Jazmine Sullivan.

Up to #16 is Dirty Picture by Taio Cruz featuring Ke$ha. Ke$ha's other single We R Who We R improves to #17. Ke$ha is quite the cutie. Maybe a bit shallow but definitely eye candy. Climbing to #18 is Champaign Life by Neo. Advancing to #19 is Like a G6 by Far*East Movement Featuring Cataracs & Dev. Tumbling to #20 is Rockstar 10, another hit by Rihanna. Did anyone notice how many tracks this week have Rihanna's name attached?

Now back to this week's word Giving Thanks. Our American friends make a really big deal out of Thanksgiving. Our Canadian friends celebrate it as well. I don't think the Canadian celebration is quite as big as the one in the US, but at least they take time to give thanks.

Bermuda has generally been a sympathiser of both countries and somewhat celebrates Thanksgiving on both occasions, with the Canadians in October and with the US yesterday. Because of our history and relations with both countries, we've sort of begun to embrace Thanksgiving. However, we should give thanks every day.

The Bible teaches that in all things we should give thanks. Bermuda has been blessed with God's favour. We avoided serious damage during hurricane season. We have had great weather, plenty of rainfall this year so everyone's tanks should be ok.

Most of us take so much for granted. We assume that when we go to sleep at night that we will wake. Then the next day we wake and don't stop to thank the Creator who woke us. We take for granted our jobs and complain about them often. Those of us who have jobs should be thankful and give thanks for those jobs.

I've heard people complaining about their spouses and/or kids. We should give thanks for our families, because there are many persons who would give anything to have kids and/or a spouse.

Those of us who own homes (even if we are paying a mortgage to the bank for them) should recognise how blessed and fortunate we are. Those who own more than one home should be doubly thankful such has been their blessing!

People who own cars or have access to cars and/or bikes should be thankful for an independent means of transportation. There are many people who don't have a car or bike and must use public transportation, take a taxi or walk. Mind you they may be a bit healthier than those of us with cars and bikes, but this does not discount the blessing of having those independent means of transportation.

We don't have war going on in Bermuda and we are free to practice any form of religion or social activity of our choice without fear of being shot or persecuted.

These are just a few reasons why we should be thankful, not only at Thanksgiving, but all year. Happy Thanksgiving……DJLT.
