All nine staff at United Parcel Service in Hamilton will be made redundant when the Island's biggest courier company, International Bonded Couriers, takes over next month.

IBC president Glen Smith said there will be two vacancies up for grabs in the new set up.

"Primarily UPS has given them a very generous compensation package including benefits and insurance and so forth,'' he said. "They are looking after them extremely well and getting a very good package including two weeks salary for every year in employment.

"With regard to IBC, we are taking on two new employees ...and former UPS staff are welcome to apply for these. If they have the right credentials I will look on them favourably.''
