They bring your groceries to the store
You may need to remember these important names as they play big roles in the grocery division at BGA. There is an old expression, "Always stay in good with the cook and the grocer.'' BGA's grocery division sales manager, Dale Neer, coordinates grocery sales Island wide to grocery stores. He also oversees the food services division for restaurants and hotels. He explained his role: "I coordinate all vendors overseas and my responsibilities involve purchasing products which are delivered to stores.'' They feature 80 vendors ranging from Kellogg's and Heinz, to cleaning products like Clorox, S.C. Johnson and Reckitt and Colman.
The grocery division has four sales people, four merchandisers, plus a small food service division.
"Our account executives visit every store at least once a week, and in some cases daily.
One of his key team players is Gail Simpson, an account executive for Marketplace Stores who has been with the company 20 years.
Mrs. Simpson said: "I am in charge of everything to do with products for the Marketplace from promoting products, to placing the products in their stores.
Names like Kellogg, Clorox and Ribena we bring in by the container load.
"I have loved my job from the first day ! Initially Mr. Young was my boss. He is a positive force at BGA and makes us feel good about our work.
"The new managers are doing an excellent job at providing a positive environment.'' Another team member, Elaine Davis, who has been doing merchandising over seven years says she enjoys meeting new people and takes pride in store presentations.
Ms Davis remarked: "I like the encouragement and positive attitudes I receive from my bosses. It is pleasant to have the freedom to communicate openly with our management.'' In terms of the market, the supermarket chains are the bulk of their business. Account executives visit every store at least once a week and in some cases daily.
