Butterfield Bank scoops top award again

Butterfield Bank has again been named Bank of the Year in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands by The Banker magazine. This is the fifth consecutive year Butterfield Bank has received the award in Bermuda, and the third time it has received the award in Cayman.

Bank chief executive officer Alan R. Thompson said: ?The success we have enjoyed is a direct result of the efforts of our employees who have worked hard to integrate new businesses, introduce innovative products and services and strengthen relationships with our customers.?

The Banker is a UK-based publication that each year selects banks in over 100 countries to receive their ?Bank of the Year? awards. The Banker?s global editorial team considers not only a bank?s financial performance, but also strategic initiatives, innovative use of technology and commitment to human resources initiatives, a statement from Butterfield Bank said. A full listing of ?Bank of the Year 2006? award winners will be published in the December edition of The Banker.

In addition to The Banker?s Bank of the Year awards, Butterfield Bank was named Best Bank in Bermuda for 2006 by Global Finance in March ? the second consecutive year it has received this award, and Best Bank in Bermuda in the Euromoney 2006 Awards for excellence in July.
