Happy to be a surrogate?
December 5, 2012Dear Sir,A question for Wayne Furbert, Minister of Business Development and Tourism and self-acknowledged “surrogate” — a quick glance at The Oxford Dictionary indicates that the word “surrogate” is used to describe a “deputy” or a “substitute”. A glance at a thesaurus for, perhaps, a wider meaning or use indicates the same, adding “alternative”. In accepting the mantle of “surrogate” to describe your involvement as Party Leader in the former United Bermuda Party, what definition did you give to the word? It seems fairly harmless to me and something, the members of your surrogate adoptive political home, the Progressive Labour Party have been banging on about for 40 years, so no new argument there. You certainly seemed happy in the United Bermuda Party for 30 years and rose to the top, rather than the deputy position. Looking forward to your appreciation of the definition of the word.MONTY P.The Ministry of Silly WordsSt George’s
