Michael Sims produced his best round of the year so far as he fired a three-under par 68 on the opening day of the Nationwide Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am.Playing his first round at Thornblade Club, Sims had four birdies in his round, with the only blight on his scorecard being a bogey at the par-four 14.The Bermuda professional is still someways off leader Travis Hampshire, who shot a remarkable 12-under par 60 at the Carolina Country Club course, another of the three courses being used for the event.Sims plays his second round at Bright’s Creek today, where the leading score yesterday was a seven-under 65 from South African Garth Mulroy.
