Sims finishes 50th after rollercoaster final round
Michael Sims made the cut for the second successive time on Web-Com Tour at the weather-delayed Mexico Championships over the weekend. But whereas he recorded a top-ten finish a week ago at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina after firing a sensational final round of 62, his fortunes changed yesterday in astonishing final round. The 34-year-old eventually finished in a tie for 50th in a round that included five birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.Three of his birdies came in the last four holes. In a roller-coaster round at the 7,700 yard El Bosque Golf Club course in Leo, Sims made just eight pars to card an even-par 72.Earlier he finished his third round with a two-over 74. That followed a 73 and a 71 in the first two rounds, barely making the cut.His two-over total of 290 was worth $2,433.Victory went to Michael Putnam on 13-under-par (275).
