This is the first time the Royal Navy Golf Association will have sent a team to Bermuda and all the players will be accomodated at the HMS Malabar.

As well as competing in the Bermuda Open the team will also play a match against Riddell's Bay on October 11. The team, led by Commander Gary Skinns, recently competed in the inter-service Golf Tournament in the UK and tied with both the Royal Air Force and the Army.

CHESS CHS Richard Farleigh, as expected, captured the Canada Dry Chess tournament, maintaining a perfect record by beating Aron Kokje in the final round of matches.

The loss by Kokje enabled Richard Black, who downed Eric Keen, to finish second. Carlton Williams wound up third after notching a default win.

TENNIS TEN The Sonesta Beach Hotel and Spa will hold their Singles Tennis Classic from October 22 to 29.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) but is not a ranking tournament. That's because the event is a late addition to the BLTA calender.

Entry forms wil be available at most tennis facilities and tennis shops and the deadline for entries is October 20 at 6 p.m. There will be just one flight of singles.

For further information call Cal Simons at Sonesta Tennis Shop at 238-8122, extension 3183.
