Government last night refused to give details surrounding public service officers affected by the current Covid-19 outbreak.

The Royal Gazette posed questions in relation to comments made in the Senate on Thursday when it was revealed that some Department of Health technical officers were under quarantine.

Curtis Richardson, government senator, said that he was unable to answer certain questions during the debate on the Ministry of Health’s budget as “technical staff are unfortunately at home in quarantine”.

We asked how many people were affected, across which ministries, whether any offices were closed and whether someone at the Ministry of Health had Covid.

However, last night, a Cabinet Office spokesperson said: “The public service has been impacted by the current outbreak of confirmed cases.

“We will not give specifics on departments at this time, however service levels have changed across the organisation.

“Details will be provided in the coming days on which services are affected and the solutions being put in place to help customers.”
