BSX gains as BF&M rises
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index edged up yesterday as insuer BF&M jumped on a day of light trading.
The index closed up 6.65 points to 4,832.65 as 12,976 shares worth $261,618.50 traded.
BF&M was the only mover on the day, rising 50 cents to 2.8 percent to close at $18.50, just off its record high.
The only other stock to trade was Butterfield Bank, which was unchanged at $56 on volume of 576 shares.
Trading was mixed for Bermuda's publicly traded reinsurers and insurers, with Scottish Re gaining 5.5 percent to close at $6.50 and RenaissanceRe up 0.6 percent at $55.50.
Max Re, which reported a quarterly profit on Monday night, but said premium income had fallen and it had lost money on investments, dropped 1.15 percent to $22.33.
The Bermuda Insurance Index slipped 1.6 points to 1,183.40.
