Pair charged with last week's home invasion robbery

Charged: Detroy Smith (left) and Wesley Stovell charged with armed robbery in connection with a home invasion in St.George's last week.

Two St. George's men were charged yesterday with an alleged daylight armed robbery that sparked a manhunt in the east end last week.

Wesley Stovell, 18, and Detroy Smith, 24, were charged with trespassing in a Slip Point Lane, St. George's home with a firearm.

They were also accused of stealing $1,200 and possessing a firearm in the July 1 incident.

Both men were further charged with conspiring to rob with a firearm.

A third suspect was not named and did not appear in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Because the charges will have to be heard in the Supreme Court, neither man was required to enter a plea.

Crown counsel Larissa Burgess did not give any information in relation to the case.

While Smith is represented by Elizabeth Christopher, Charles Richardson appeared in court on behalf of both men yesterday. He made no application for bail.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Stovell and Smith into custody until July 20, when they are expected to reappear in Magistrates' Court for mention.
