Visitor arrivals down again

According to Government figures, during the period of October 9 to October 15 the number of people arriving by air dropped to 8,958 -- 606 less than the 9,564 that arrived the previous week.

According to Government figures, during the period of October 9 to October 15 the number of people arriving by air dropped to 8,958 -- 606 less than the 9,564 that arrived the previous week.

However, over the same period, 5,731 visitors arrived by cruise ship -- 400 more than the 5,381 visitors who cruised in the previous week.

The total number of visitors arriving between October 9 and October 15 was 14,714 -- 1,316 less than during the same period last year.

From January 1 to October 15, 325,076 people arrived by air -- 8.1 percent less than the number for the same period last year.

And cruise ship arrivals dropped to 156,459 between January 1 and October 15 -- 32,770 less than during the same period in 1994.

BA FLIGHT TIMES SET TO CHANGE FLY BA flight times set to change British Airways' local manager yesterday issued a reminder to passengers that flight times will change, starting this weekend.

As a result of different daylight savings time in the UK and Bermuda, Mr.

Philip Troake said the BA flight, which normally leaves Bermuda at 8.10 p.m.

on Saturday, will leave an hour later.

This, he explained, will allow it to arrive in London at the regularly scheduled time of 6.50 a.m.

The BA flight from London will arrive an hour later than usual at 6.50 p.m.

next Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, Mr. Troake said. And it will depart at 9.10 p.m.

BA's winter flight schedule will come into effect on October 31 when planes will arrive in Bermuda at 6.15 p.m. and leave at 8.15 p.m. The flight will still arrive in London at the usual time of 6.50 a.m.

Mr. Troake urged passengers to check the time on their tickets.

BUSINESS GROUP MEETS TONIGHT CON Business group meets tonight Small businesses on the Island have got together to form the Bermuda Business Organisation.

This followed a June meeting at which over 50 small business owners met with the author of "Black Labour, White Wealth'' Dr. Claud Anderson, who challenged small business owners to unite.

The organisation will be officially launched tonight at an 8.30 p.m. forum at the Leopard's Club entitled "Are You Ready for Business Opportunities''.

The topic will be addressed by Sen. Terry Lister and will be followed by a panel discussion with successful small business owners.

Small business owners are urged to attend the forum as the BBO will outline its objectives and launch its initial project.

BEACH FEATURE IN COMPUTER MAG NJ Beach features in computer mag Warwick Long Bay beach was featured as an advertisement in this month's Family PC computer magazine.

The advertisement is used to plug a Mag Innovision DX 1795 computer saying "When it's time to plug and play, do it with pride not envy''.

Along with the beach picture, the advert shows two computer screens -- one of which depicts a tropical underwater scene and the other a lone fish in a tank.

FILLING UP NOW A LITTLE CHEAPER EGY Filling up now a little cheaper Motorists received a break at the pumps when fuel prices dropped on Monday.

Gasoline dipped by 1.1 cents a litre, while diesel and kerosene edged down by 0.3 cents.

This means the maximum prices per litre for the fuels are now: gasoline, 112.4 cents; diesel, 87.4 cents; and kerosene, 66.9.
