STEAM Academy application deadline looms
The deadline to register for a summer hothouse academy for schoolchildren is Friday, the education department said today.
The science, technology, engineering, arts and maths — STEAM — Academy, open to Primary 4 to M4 pupils, will include hands-on learning and the chance to design a school of the future based around the five core subjects, in line with the education ministry’s plans to restructure the public schools system.
The programme will work with Ah! Tempo, a choir and show group, to create a school song, crest and uniforms.
Computing and robotic education — digibotics — will also be carried out for P5 to M3 pupils.
The annual programme, run by the Government’s gifted and talented education programme, will run from July 1 to 24 and will be delivered on a remote basis because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All the work produced by the youngsters will be showcased on a special website.
The cost of the academy is $65 a child and the programme is open to children from public and private schools.
