Impaired rider ?had two beers?

A 22-year-old man who told Police he had only drunk two beers when he was stopped in Hamilton because he appeared unsteady on his moped pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated at Magistrates? Court.

Adam Sowa, of Sunset Pass, was riding a silver Yamaha cycle on Serpentine Road, Pembroke around 5.30 a.m. on September 20 when Police officers on patrol saw him ?slowing and swerving? and crossing the centre line of the road.

Soon afterwards the Police stopped Sowa and noticed that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

They asked him if he had been drinking and Sowa replied: ?I?ve only had two beers.?

He was tested and found to be over the legal alcohol limit for driving.

After admitting the offence in court Polish-speaking Sowa was fined $1,000 and disqualified from driving any vehicle for 12 months.
