The victim suffered a suspected broken jaw and broken shoulder and also received numerous cuts to his face and body.

He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and detained overnight.

Last night a hospital spokesman said the man was in a general ward and in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a man badly hurt in a single motorcycle accident remains in critical but stable condition in the hospital's intensive care unit.
