A Nova Scotia University media release noted Ms Smith's achievements included being the youngest woman to run in a Bermudian general election, the first woman in the Senate as well as her achievement in becoming the first elected female Premier of Bermuda.

Ms Smith will pick up her honour at the university's fall convocation ceremony on Sunday, October 22.

CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED IN COLLISION AC Cyclist seriously injured in collision A motorcyclist is in a serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit after an accident outside the Southampton Princess hotel. The man, who has not been named, is at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after his moped was involved in a collision with a taxi.

Another man and his cycle passenger were unhurt in the accident, which happened at 6.15 p.m. on Monday. Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel attended the incident.
