Partnership's Sunshine Award.

Tamara DeSilva, 32, won the award after coming to the aid of American visitors.

Ms DeSilva was nominated by Clinton and Bernadette Roese, from New Jersey, for the care and concern she showed after they had an accident of their moped.

"We were in a moped accident,'' the couple said. "Ms DeSilva saw, took charge of the situation, personally drove us to the hospital, called to make sure the moped was taken care of and stayed with us to make sure everything was OK. Tamara said: `It's the Bermudian way!' '' The community award was created to encourage locals to keep putting smiles on visitor's faces and to make sure that their efforts towards the Island's visitors did not go unrewarded.

The VIP asked visitors to nominate locals who had "gone out of their way'' to help them.

Each year, four winners will be selected and from those four, an overall winner will be chosen.

For her good deed, Ms DeSilva received a two-night stay at either a local cottage colony, a 14 karat gold Bermuda Sunshine pin and an invitation for two to the Hotelier of the Year banquet.
