Man threatened father with hammer

A man who became “consumed with emotions” and threatened his father with a hammer was fined $500 in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.Loderick Holder, 33, admitted behaving in a threatening manner in Warwick last Thursday.Prosecutor Garrett Byrne said the defendant went to his father’s address, “waving a hammer at him”, after reports of a family dispute. The court heard that Holder said to his father: “I will f***king kill you. I will slit your f***ing head. I’m going to f*** you up. You think you are f***ing bad. I will show you what bad is.”Mr Bryne said he’d received a telephone call from Holder’s father who told him there was a restraining order in place to keep the defendant away from him.Bruce Swan, representing Holder, said: “My client has had previous disagreements with his father. There’s a previous relationship that’s unharmonious.”He said Holder had used poor judgement but was regretful. “He is a father himself and doesn’t wish for this behaviour to continue.”Holder, whose address was not given, told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo he wanted to apologise for “losing my head and lack of judgement”. He said: “Emotions got the better of me.”Mr Tokunbo, fining him $500, replied: “It seems like you were consumed by emotions.”
