St. George's successfully retained the Mini Cup Match trophy yesterday, following a thrilling 10-run victory over Somerset at Somerset Cricket Club.

With Teiko Lowe starring with the bat and James Pace Jr. devastating with the ball, St. George's displayed their class, but not without receiving a scare from the west enders.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat by the home side, St. George's made good use of their allotted 25 overs, led by Lowe, who showed elegance and class on his way to a top score of 23, as the east enders tallied 83 for eight.

Terrence Christopher Jr. took four for 19 for Somerset, bowling a tidy line and length.

Somerset charged from the gates in search of the required runs with Aaron Simons blasting his way to 19, including four fours, before he was dismissed.

However, going at a rapid clip the home side lost wickets at an almost equal pace, with James Pace Jr. on most occasions the instigator, as he took four wickets.

Somerset were eventually bowled out for 73 after 15 overs.

"Our guys did a good job and made it a really exciting match and a lot more competitive than last year, but still came up a little short," said Davon Wade, coach for Somerset. "But they all had fun, that's the main thing."
