Governor picks Easter lilies for the Queen

The Governor, Rena Lalgie, has had her first experience of a Bermuda tradition – picking Easter Lilies as a gift to send to the Queen.
Ms Lalgie and her family took part in the event at Windybank Farm earlier this week.
The flowers left Bermuda for London last night and are expected to arrive at Windsor Castle in time for tomorrow’s Good Friday Easter celebrations.
Ms Lalgie, who took up her post in Bermuda in January, said: “Due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic last year and the closure of Bermuda’s airport to all commercial flights, we were unable to send the annual gift of Easter Lilies to Her Majesty The Queen.
“However, this year I am pleased on behalf of the people of Bermuda to resume this longstanding tradition.”
