Salty sea dogs and anyone who knows the difference between a jib and a crow's nest will not be welcome at this year's annual Non-Mariner's Race, which will be held at Mangrove Bay, Sandys Parish, from about 12 p.m.

Participants are expected to build the most unlikely of sailing craft with the aim of the contest being to sink as soon as possible.

Veteran non-sailor Paul Maccoy, whose team has a superb record in the event -- always sinking without trace before the starter's gun has gone off -- said: "It's a good day out and all the money raised goes to charity''.
