Tylenol in short supply

Tylenol has become a hard-to-find commodity on the Island in recent weeks and it’s not because of the headache-inducing holiday season. The brand of drugs is popular for reducing pain, reducing fever, and relieving the symptoms of cold and flu. While regular Tylenol tablets are still available, other Tylenol products such as gel caps are in short supply at local pharmacies.According to a BGA spokeswoman, product recalls and plant closures nearly two years ago are still causing a reduced availability of the product internationally.“The Tylenol supply to Bermuda has been extremely poor since Johnson & Johnson (McNeil Consumer Health Division) suffered with US product recalls and plant closures back in February, 2010,” the spokeswoman said.“As a result of the supply shortage, we understand Johnson & Johnson limited the exportation of Tylenol in order to keep the US market supplied.“BGA Group of Companies has been advised by our regional office of Johnson & Johnson that the Tylenol products supply is expected to improve during the first quarter 2012.”
