Industrial action has ended at Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club after the dismissal of a staff member was sent to arbitration.Colleagues protested outside the club on Wednesday and Thursday last week, following the termination of food and beverage worker Yvonne Bradshaw.Bermuda Industrial Union President Chris Furbert and club manager Dennis Paul yesterday released a joint statement saying the matter has been referred to arbitration.“Until a determination is ruled by the arbitrator, all employees involved in the dispute have agreed to return to work with immediate effect,” said the statement.“No further industrial action will be taken as it relates to this matter.“With the cooperation of both parties, we will continue to have an open dialogue with a view to resolving this matter and any future concerns to everyone’s satisfaction.“We thank the public for your concern and rest assured that all efforts are being focused on bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion that will benefit both parties and industrial relations at large.”Staff had waved placards such as “Workers demand respect” and “Management need to stop violating our collective agreement” after walking out on the job last week.The BIU claimed management had given no reason for firing Ms Bradshaw.
