No confusion over standards -- BTFA
dispel any confusion over qualifying standards for this summer's Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada.
Guishard was responding to comments made by 800 metres runner Jennifer Fisher who said last week she was not aware of the time she needed to run in order to secure her place on the Bermuda team.
The BTFA chief, noting it had been the responsibility of Bermuda Olympic Association to release the standards, said qualifying times and distances were, in fact, published in March this year.
Athletes, he added, had also been invited to a meeting to discuss the qualifying requirements.
The cut-off date for athletes to attain the standard has been set at July 18.
(A full list of the track and field standards appear in today's paper on Page 24.) Already qualified for the August 18-28 Games are triple jumper Brian Wellman, 400 metre runner Troy Douglas, high jumper Stephen Woodley and marathon runner Brett Forgesson.
Four swimmers, Jenny Smatt, Geri Mewett, Stanley Harris and Chris Flook have also booked their Games' tickets while a cycling team and a pistol shooting team also hope to represent the Island.
