A litter problem
March 30, 2012Dear Sir,Re: Littering a Micro problemLittering has prompted me to write. I feel that it has become a micro issue. I live in Hamilton Parish and I walk regularly and am dismayed at the amount of litter that is visible to the eye: the Causeway, the Hamilton Parish Railway and the Coney Island Road.Beer and liquor bottles, soda cans, paper, food containers, plastic utensils, plastic bags, paper bags, cups, lids, pizza boxes, chip and chocolate bar paper, etc. These items are thrown from motorists whom both end up in the trees and roadsides and smashed on the roadside and also by walking, people sitting in their vehicles eating, drinking and disposing.* The Causeway has only three trash bins that are insufficient and not within close proximity.* There should be at least six trash bins situated on the Causeway.* The Hamilton Parish railway trail has only one trash bin. Trash bins should be increased to three or four, ie, specifically the entrance and end of the trail.* The Coney Island road should have at least four trash bins. Trees along the Coney Island road landscaped and cut low which would enhance the area for our visitors to view the west end and our pristine water. It is a beautiful area and a tourist attraction for Hamilton Parish.Littering has become a massive and an intentional problem with no legislation in place. It needs to become enforced with laws, but when? A blind eye continues by our Members of Parliament. Your vote will be determined in the next election. Our pride, our honour, our environment and our lives are a reflection.I am doing my part by picking up you litter daily. Help to keep our areas clean by not littering.CMWHamilton Parish
