Torus appoints Lafferty to leading US post
Bermuda-based specialty insurer Torus has appointed Paul Lafferty as vice-president, property claims manager, with immediate effect.
This follows the announcement last week of the parallel appointment of Charles Stauber as Head of Torus' US casualty claims. Based in Torus' New Jersey office, Mr. Lafferty is responsible for all US property claims services.
Rob Powell, Torus' head of claims, commented: "I am delighted that Paul has chosen to join Torus. Investing in the best technical people is key to our ability to deliver excellence in our claims service and demonstrates our willingness and capability to provide leadership in the market and transparency and certainty for our clients.
"As evidenced by this appointment and the recent arrival of Charles Stauber to the head of casualty claims role, we believe in providing all involved parties with the best possible service from underwriting through to payment of all valid claims and in having the highest quality claims team in place to fulfil these obligations."
Mr. Lafferty joins Torus from Starr Technical Risks Agency where he was most recently executive general adjuster responsible for delivering claims services to insureds throughout the major insurance markets worldwide.
He has gained further extensive experience in handling claims for major catastrophes throughout his 23-year career at AIG Global Energy, FM Global, Arkwright Mutual Insurance and Factory Mutual.
