Renee Ming appeals for witnesses to Ord Road murder
Renee Ming, the Minister of National Security, today called for the public’s help after a man was fatally shot in Warwick last night.
The victim, a 37-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest at around 10.30pm yesterday near the junction of Ord Road and Tribe Road #2.
Police have launched a murder investigation into the incident which occurred at approximately 10.30pm yesterday. Police and EMTs were dispatched after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots.
A police spokesman said: “Upon arrival, officers found 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
“Officers and EMT’s immediately began life-saving measures at the scene and the victim was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where sadly, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
“No information on the identity of the victim will be provided until all next of kin have been notified.”
Ms Ming said: "The family, loved ones and friends of the victim are foremost on our minds today as we process another shooting incident that has taken the life of another man.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to each of them.
“As we grapple with this tragic event, I am urging anyone with any information to please contact the Police.”
She added that the police investigation into the murder was still in its early stages, but the Bermuda Police Service would provide an update at noon.
Ms Ming said the Gang Violence Reduction Team would be in the Ord Road area today to help provide support for the community.
