An opportunity to get rid of electronic waste
Junk electronics, from cell phones to air conditioners, can be disposed of this Saturday at the Tynes Bay Facility on Palmetto Road, Devonshire.
Equipment containing circuit boards, plus anything powered by an electrical cord or batteries, can be dropped off for recycling overseas from 9am to 5pm.
During the past year Waste Management dealt with 127 shipping containers of recycling, exporting 77 container loads to the US recycling market and reusing 50 container loads of crushed glass in local construction projects.
Twelve container loads of air conditioners were exported, along with 23 containers of vehicle batteries, four of steel cans, three of aluminium, 12 of motor oil, and 15 of e-waste.
