Computer cords recalled
The Department of Consumer Affairs has announced that a number of computer power cords have been recalled due to faults in the manufacturing.
Longwell Electrics has recalled the Longwell LS-7C power cords, which are sold with inkjet printers from Hewlett Packard Company.
HP Deskjet 800 and 900 series printers, and HP Photosmart 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1300 series inkjet printers are all affected.
The power cords are being recalled because the connector has been found to break, exposing electrical contacts, which may result in people suffering electric shocks.
The Department of Consumer Affairs said many residents and businesses on the Island had acquired the Hewlett Packard computers from abroad. The faulty power cord may have been included with the computer and printer package, however, only power cords with the name Longwell on the cord are affected.
Anyone who has ordered or purchased direct for America or Canada should contact Hewlett Packard Company on (877) 917-4378 and they will be provided with a replacement cord.
People who have bought locally should contact the distributor for a replacement cord.
