Top expert to give lecture on electric vehicles
talk on the topic tomorrow night at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
Professor C.C. Chan, who heads the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the University of Hong Kong and is the president of that country's Institution of Engineers, will present a lecture on Electric Vehicles: Challenge and Opportunity at 7 p.m.
The lecture is part of the Institute of Electrical Engineers public lecture series and is sponsored in Bermuda by Belco and the Bermuda Association of Professional Engineers.
He will give an overview of the current status of electrical vehicle technology, future trends and commercial feasibility with emphasis on their engineering philosophy and key technology.
He is also set to discuss the development of electric vehicle technology and look at the use of electric cars in some communities.
Professor Chan has studied electric vehicle technology for more than a decade and currently serves as the president of the World Electric Vehicle Association.
He founded the International Research Centre for Electric Vehicles in 1986, was elected as one of three wise men in electric vehicle technology in 1990 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science and Fellowship of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (USA) in 1990 for his contribution to the development of electric vehicles.
