Schooling needs of son was reason Michael Douglas left Bermuda
Actor Michael Douglas and his family left Bermuda for New York because of struggles his son was having with dyslexia.
The family relocated after a decade here because it was recommended his ten-year-old son attend "a special school in the New York area", he told the UK newspaper The Guardian.
Mr. Douglas was quoted in an article in the newspaper on Saturday.
"My son deals with dyslexia to a degree — it runs in the family and my brother has it. He goes to a special school."
Mr. Douglas, who in August revealed he had throat cancer, is the son of actor Kirk Douglas and Bermudian actress Diana Dill.
He told The Guardian that he and his actress wife Catherine Zeta-Jones enrolled their two children in New York this September.
"Neither of us is overwhelmed with worry about which school or college they are going to be going to. We just want them to be good citizens of the planet," he said.
