Nahki Wells spectacularly brought an end to the longest drought of his professional career when he fired in Huddersfield Town’s second goal against Blackburn Rovers at the John Smith’s Stadium today.

Wells scored in the 71st minute, his first since January 18 and eighteenth of the season, from a knockdown by James Vaughan, who had just arrived on the pitch as a substitute after a long spell out through injury.

Unfortunately for Huddersfield, the goal failed to provide the required impetus for a late challenge, as Blackburn again capitalised on a defensive error to win 4-2.

Jordan Rhodes, whose scoring feats with Huddersfield in League One earned an £8 million move to the East Lancashire club two years ago, reminded his former club of his predatory talents by completing an accomplished hat-trick with ten minutes left.
